Paulo Karat is a Lecturer at Nottingham Law School. He teaches on the undergraduate LLB and mindfulness courses to NTU students, working closely with the Student Services team and research colleagues in NTU Psychology. He qualified as a solicitor in 1999, specialising in intellectual property and commercial contracts, working at Freeths LLP and Addleshaw Goddard LLP.

 Paulo teaches mindfulness as a wellbeing, performance and resilience intervention to lawyers and to NHS groups (in particular Primary Care Trusts). Paulo is registered as a mindfulness teacher at the British Association for Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA).  Paulo’s research interests concern attitudes (including cynicism) towards mindfulness and the impact of mindfulness courses on students, lawyers and other professionals.   He is currently undertaking research into the impact of 4-week, 6-week and 8-week mindfulness courses on the NTU student population.
